having a google around to see what type one's if any are used in ireland i understand pyrotechnics are not allowed under irish law.
i have seen the land mines on some of the irish videos that just use water spray and (smoke i think) not sure on that smoke one
is there some type of hand grenade that is usable in irish play that is not classed as a pyrotechnic ?

The Airsoft Innovations one is pretty good. Not much use in winter(as its gas operated) or on grassy surfaces as it not able to spin. In indoor cqb I find its the cats pajamas...

There are a couple of grenade types used in airsoft, both are gas-powered (CO2 and/or green gas)

The most popular hand-thrown grenades are the S-Thunder and Airsoft Innovations. The S-Thunder 'detonates' with a loud bang, most outdoor sites run 3m or 5m kill radius rules (unless behind hard cover) and indoors if you're in room when it goes off you're hit. The AI disperses a number of BBs, the idea being if one hits you're 'hit'. Both are considered non-directional.

The other type of grenade is based on the M203 launcher design. Basically the grenade shoots out a number of BBs through the launcher. This is considered a directional device so you must be hit by a BB to be 'hit'.

It depends on the sites. As i use the thunder b. some sites allow them to be used in buildings others will only allow outdoors.

Airsoft innovations crash impact grenades for the win!
Seriously - total win. I was a fan of the timed grenades but a grenade that only goes off when it gets a sudden sharp impact (i.e. it's dropped and hits something) is much easier to use.
Not a fan of the thunder bs - on the few occasions that I've used them they've had a 50/50 detonation rate.

Yet you're still guilty of the childishness when I let you use my one, the giggle said it all Kev!:pac:

The thunder b is the most common, but there can be issues setting them off as they need to be set up correctly. The one time I tried one in the officeblock, I had 4 misfires in a row and put it into my tac vest to have a look at later.

where it promptly went off on its own. ( pin not in )

the one you may have seen with gas is a powder filled one, like fine talcum.
