Iphone 4 syncing

Friend of mine had her 3GS stolen, and got an iphone4 to replace it. She has a 3yr old MacBookPro and is running OSX Tiger, hence she can't sync it with itunes without spending money on upgrading the OS

I know this issue has been raised before, but haven't been able to find a solution to it. Don't have an iphone myself. As she is really just interested in syncing her contacts, I was wondering was there an app that she could download that would allow her to backup her itunes contacts to server or gmail or whatever, and then through her itunes login download it to her phone to sync the contacts.

Not really familiar with the iphone, but I would have thought this should be possible given that the contacts are all stored in itunes.

    Cheers for any help

TBH her time and money would be better spent upgrading the OS. There is a new OS due this year (Lion I think) which will push her future out of date. At most she'll have an interim solution but if she's planning on keeping the iPhone 4, she would be best off updating the OS. I thought OS upgrades from Tiger to Snow Leopard was €50?

    Thank you,
I just thought 99c would be better if possible, particularly as she's planning on getting a new MacbookPro in a few months

Ah ok, makes sense. Well the other upside of upgrading the OS is the resale value of the machine will be slightly better. Never heard of an App that does what your looking for though.

tell her to set up a gmail account and then go to setttings>mail contacts and calendars on the phone, tap add account and then tap microsoft exchange
type the full email address for the email and username and then enter the password, tap next
when server appears type m.google.com tap next,ya can sync contacts mail and calendars with the account so pick mail and contacts anyway, tap next
a prompt will appear asking do ya want to keep contacts already on the iphone, tap keep on my iphone

ih push is enabled the sync will automatically start but if its not just open the mail app and tap the refresh button on the bottom left
