yesterday i ordered something off amazon, as it was over £25, i got super saver free delivery, as usual.

today, im ordering 2 more things, both qualify for free supersaver, and its saying
Why didn't I qualify for free Super Saver Delivery?Your Amazon EU S.a.r.L. items:
Dispatching to: Tea_Bag, XXXXXXXXX XXXXX, Limerick, Limerick, Ireland

Not Eligible:Items delivered to addresses outside the UK are not eligible for free Super Saver Delivery.

this is extremely dissapointing. i will be taking my business elsewhere. thanks amazon.

Like where? Amazon are the best online retailer by far, I'll happily pay a few extra euros for delivery.

well, ebuyer worked out to be £2 cheaper (including delivery) than amazon. normally, if its that close, id give my money to amazon, cause i too believe they run a top class business, (not that ive ever had complaints with ebuyer), but if you include delivery from amazon, it was £13 more expensive.

I bought something the day before yesterday and I got free delivery on it? Maybe they only just changed it :(

just tried it there and i got the free super saver delivery. What were you trying to order?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,687 ✭✭✭✭jack presley

Were you ordering something off the Amazon Marketplace, i.e. an external supplier who uses Amazon? You never get free shipping off them.

It could be an item that doesn't qualify for the free delivery (I believe there are some), or a Marketplace seller, which never qualify for free delivery.

Yep I ordered a buggy yesterday, got free del no porb.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,979 ✭✭✭Tea_Bag

just tried to order the items seperately there, and one of them was "flagged" to not include free delivery. changed that out, and the order went through. happy days.

FWIW, it wasnt a reseller afaik. strange, but bareable.
sorry for the late reply, i was at work :(

I had a similar problem before Christmas - big order of all Amazon sold items but got charged delivery - no option for Super Saver was shown . I emailed Amazon just after placing the order and got a full refund on the delivery charges. Hasn't happened since .

phew, i got vouchers for christmas for Amazon.
Used to hate when they charged for delivery as it normally made them more expensive for most things!

Just tried to order HannsG HW191D 19" Widescreen LCD TFT Monitor, Silver/Black, 1440x900, 5ms, DVI, VGA, Speakers, 700:1 for

Price: £80.14 & this item Delivered FREE in the UK with Super Saver Delivery.

cause I think its a good deal as a secondary monitor

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/HW191D-Widescreen-Monitor-1440x900-Speakers/dp/B000GYHS6Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1294998469&sr=1-1

and surprise surprise at the checkout
    Amazon.co.uk Order Summary
    Items: GBP 66.78
    Postage & Packing: GBP 6.88

    Total before VAT: GBP 73.66
    VAT: GBP 15.46

    Order Total: GBP 89.12
    Payment Total: EUR 109,85**

Why didn't I qualify for free Super Saver Delivery?

    Your Amazon EU S.a.r.L. items:
    Dispatching to: 0000 Ireland

Not Eligible:Items delivered to addresses outside the UK are not eligible for free Super Saver Delivery.

It's still a relative good deal but this stinks and personally I don't feel like I want to support this way.

BTW I wasn't able to find any item marked as free delivery in EUROPE (compared to free delivery in UK only)

New Year ... maybe a new chance to look for a new supplier of trust.

I tried ordering that monitor - just to see if it would do the same for me - and it did. (No option of free delivery)
But I then tried to order a similar product - a Samsung B1930N 19 inch Widescreen LCD Monitor and free delivery was an option.

So - it's not a change in Amazon policy - it's just probably the odd glitch in the system on a few products
Just email them as soon as you order it - and tell them what happened and they should refund the postage.

must be big glitch in the system .. .

    Amazon.co.uk Order Summary
    Items: GBP 76.59
    Postage & Packing: GBP 6.57

    Total before VAT: GBP 83.16
    VAT: GBP 17.46

    Order Total: GBP 100.62
    Payment Total: EUR 124,03**

or maybe a user based blacklisting .. :-D

I've send them already a mail and will see what they reply.

Am getting the same problem with Amazon... stuff from 3rd party vendors that's showing as eligible for free super saver delivery before I put it in the basket is suddenly ineligible when I get to the checkout. Am not impressed. I'll hold off from this purchase & look around a bit.

Only stuff sold by Amazon is guaranteed to be eligible for free delivery to Ireland. Other sellers may show up as eligible for free super saver - but that is for the UK.

Choose seller = amazon.co.uk to be certain of free delivery here on orders over £25.

    got an update:

    "Hello,

Further to your e-mail on 14 Jan 2011, I am contacting you again to let you know that once you place your order that qualifies for Free Super Saver Delivery and on check out, you incurred delivery charges, please do not hesitate to contact us back using the link provided so we can issue a refund appropriately.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/contact-us

You may have already received an automatic notification, but I wanted to personally update you. I hope that this is welcome news and I'd like to thank you for your custom.

We look forward to seeing you again soon at Amazon.co.uk."

I must admit I have no idea what they try to tell me, it sounds a like like it should be free. But only a bit.

Checking the order item today reveals me that
    Amazon.co.uk Order Summary
    Items: GBP 66.78
    Postage & Packing: GBP 6.88

    Total before VAT: GBP 73.66
    VAT: GBP 15.46

    Order Total: GBP 89.12
    Payment Total: EUR 110,08**

Is even more expensive. At least they changed EUR conversion rate.

    .

Yo have to use that link to contact them - it is a link to a form where you can enter details of order number etc.

At least they changed EUR conversion rate.
You can choose to pay in sterling if you want. I have noted my euro price offered a few times and it was always cheaper to pay in sterling and use the CC exchange rate.

Is there a way to filter who the seller is to just Amazon.co.uk? I have previously added things to my basket that had 'free shipping' but were 'Fulfilled by Amazon' (FBA) and the sellers don't ship free to Ireland, so in most cases, deferred orders until I did qualify for free shipping.
When they introduced free shipping, I was happy to buy from Amazon again. Shipping charges negated most of the discounts they offered, in my experience. I made first purchase from Amazon over 10 years ago

this happened to me for delivery to Ireland.

I rang them, got through to the callcentre in Cork, and problem was solved in a minute.
There is a glitch in the software but they will refund you if you should have gotten free deivery.

    so......
contacting amazon directly rather than posting here is the solution! :D

You need to do a search for the product - then you need to select a "Department" from the left hand side. Once you have doen that - you will get further selection options on the left side of the screen - and "Seller" is one of them.

Cheers for that - methinks their webpages are getting too busy or I need new glasses, possibly bifocals at my age.

seems they fixed the glitch .. I can now order the monitor free delivery to Ireland.

In case anyone consider this as a bargain alert its a pretty good deal for a secondary or smaller 19" monitor.

I just got free delivery for BBC Planet Earth which costs £16.07 after Irish tax is added on. I thought it was only for £25 or over ? I aint complaining though, I was in the process of adding 1 or 2 more blurays to my basket for the sake of getting the free delivery but now I don't need to :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,387 ✭✭✭✭rubadub

I just got free delivery on something for £12.86, as above I had been looking for other items to bump the postage up and had never tried to checkout.

I think I did get free postage before on items just under £25 (with the Irish VAT) and I thought it was since they were light items and so cheap to post.

    Their page says 25 still
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html/ref=sv_w_h__5?ie=UTF8&docId=1000351073
*Orders over £25 qualify for Super Saver Delivery to the Republic of Ireland. Eligible items are those purchased directly from Amazon.co.uk (or items sold by a third party on Marketplace marked as Fulfilled by Amazon) on the Amazon.co.uk website, excluding gift certificates. Items purchased from Amazon's Preferred Merchant, Indigostarfish.com are also eligible for Super Saver Delivery. If your order qualifies for FREE Super Saver Delivery, you will still be charged a delivery fee for any ineligible items in the order.

I have just attempted to avail of this glitch but Amazon tried to charge me delivery as normal (£6.50 delivery for a book and a DVD, combined value <£25). Off to TheBookDepository and Sendit.com with me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,345 ✭✭✭jamescd

I just tried to order a book there worth £6.29 and I am getting the free delivery option. Are you sure the book and the DVD are sold by amazon and not a different merchant ? It should say "Dispatched from and sold by Amazon.co.uk" on both

DVD was sold by Amazon’s preferred merchant, hence £6.50 delivery charge. My mistake.
