Recovering lost hard drive space on W7

    Hi,

    Currently running Windows 7 Professional through bootcamp on my Macbook Pro for Office 2007 and Visual Studio development.

    Following a failed installation of Visual Studio I've lost a lot of GB off of my limited (30GB) Windows partition. Is there any free open source tool to recover lost HD space as I'm rocking bout 900mb of disk space atm? :o

    Probably what happened was that Visual Studio copied over a large number of files used for installation to your hard disk, and when that install failed then it didn't clean up the files that it needed to.

    First of all, try running Disk Cleanup. Select the "Clean up system files" button and when it's finished see if anything that's taking up a huge amount of space which you can remove. :)
