    star sunday - GONE !!

according to the radio loss of 17 jobs

    http://www.rte.ie/news/2011/0106/starsunday.html
The Irish Daily Star Sunday newspaper is to close with the loss of 17 jobs.
The title, which was launched in 2003, lost over €1 million last year and had never recorded a profit.
Managing Director of Independent Star Ltd Paul Cooke said the decision would have no impact on the Irish Daily Star.
Mr Cooke said the decision was taken 'due to a combination of the current severe economic downturn and continued below-cost-selling by UK based Sunday titles.'
'This has been a difficult decision and I want to pay tribute to the professionalism and hard work of all the staff of Irish Daily Star Sunday. I also want to acknowledge and thank the advertising and marketing industry in Ireland for their support for the paper.'

Sympathy to the staff who lost their jobs. Hopefully they'll be re-employed sooner rather than later.

Not in the print media, methinks. I expect 2011 to see an acceleration of media crisis.

I'm sorry for the staff who lost their jobs.

But I won't lament the passing of the publication.

The Star on Sunday was always on the bottom of the pile.

It was full of pure shít when it came to news and I challenge anyone to tell me otherwise. When was the last time it had a breaking story that made a difference?

There are only a tiny bunch of sad tossers willing to pay €2odd every Sunday to see what Gerry Ryan had up his nose or find out what Katy French was wearing when they snuffed it.

Unfortunately The Star on Sunday failed to comprehend the fact that their readers might be interested in some headline news.

It was never a newspaper really.

A very poor production, frankly. Sorry to see people lose their jobs, but really, it will not be missed.

    .

Isn't that pretty much what the Indo puts out every Sunday (with a few polls thrown in as well)
