It's a tuning name I'd never come across before until yesterday when simultaneously a thread sprung up on the ONYX Robo-Rover and I also stumbled across this on carzone:
    no-image-large.gif&width=400&height=300
    no-image-large.gif&width=400&height=300
NEW ONYX BMW EVOLUTION CONVERSION FOR M3 ,Evo Full Carbon Supersport Bonnet .ONYX Complete Evo Front Bumper With Carbon Lip,ONYX Evo Side Skirt ,ONYX Carbon Kidney Front Grills ,ONYX Evo Carbon Complete Boot Conversion,ONYX Evo Rear Complete Rear Bumper,ONYX Evo Carbon 3 Piece Rear Diffuser ,ONYX Quad Exhaust Kit ,ONYX POWER OPTION SUPERCHARGER UP TO 630 BHP. Available From Irelands Premier Dealer And Builder Of Bespoke Automobiles .TRULY ONE OF A KIND

Their over-hauls seem to be hit or miss, and I'd be surprised if they'd only just started operations now as Overfinch etc are fading away...

    Just curious!

Well smarty pants they don't turn up on the first page of results when you google it! Well for me on Google uk anyway...

And that "about" gives the basic marketing spiel. I was more asking "does anyone know anything about the engineering background, company parent, or design specialism".

To me they look more like exterior designers who plug superchargers in, rather than tuning specialists that add their own touch to the exterior.

But fine, I will GIFM then!

You didn't ask any questions apart from the thread title which is "Who are ONYX?". I apoliogise for not interpreting this as "does anyone know anything about the engineering background, company parent, or design specialism"?

They basically take your Bentley / Range Rover / etc, put a body kit on it, bespoke wheels and re-trim the interior. They'll paint it or wrap it too, if you want. I have to say, I like the majority of their kits. Some are a bit over the top.

Onyx is owned by Trevor Musgrave, ex Des Cullen Motors. Sells high end cars and has recently gone in to high end aftermarket stuff. AFAIK there's no 'engineering background' - they sell phat bumpers and the like and stick their name on them.

And get the boys who do our bodywork to stick said Phat Bumpers on to standard motors.
