Anyone got one of these or know how it works with Saorview, or know of a link to a review? Not been able to get much info so far...

    Thanks,

No MHEG5, so not compatible. However it does H.264 AVC L4 and AAC (though if they don't mean HE-AAC aka AAC+ then audio might fail).

If it was really cheap it might do as an Add-on PVR for a TV already compatible. But if DVB-EIT is discontinued in favour of MHEG5 EPG only, then PVR scheduling would be an issue.

No good for people also receiving N.I., I.O.M. or Wales as it doesn't do DVB-T2.

I expect UK "Freeview+ HD" PVRs will drop in price and/or have bigger disks. Also maybe more combo Blu Ray player/Writers (not DTT/Sat Combo).

Not that cheap neither Watty, around €240. Not seen many HD MPEG4 PVRs on the European market - plenty that are 'PVR Ready' where you have to record to USB storage but I personally wouldn't entertain such a beast! Decent PVRs have built in HDD. Humax T2 PVRs around £300/€355 (500GB) & £350/€414 (1TB) so still a bit on the pricey side for me yet and many others too I suspect. I see that there is an Xoro T2 box in the pipeline here, but probably won't have MHEG5 - who know's...?

You do not need a dual tuner. All the present stations are on one mux. The above is cheap and cheerful. No French box does MHEG5. They use MHP. But you still get the EIT 7 day epg and PVR facility.

If the box is being designed for the UK freeview market then it will have MHEG5 as standard and may be a bit cheaper than some other brands. Dual tuner PVRs are the way to go though. :)

We may only be 5 or 6 months from two Muxes.

Agreed. Having dual tuners saves time in that you might want to watch one channel whilst recording another.

However if your TV does do Saorview, then a single tuner is fine.
