Can anyone suggest an alternative to the remote application "Logmein" ?
I want to connect to two pc's (both win7)

Also if anyone can suggest an alternative to Winamp as a player for listening to radio across the net.
I want to be able to get the standard Irish/British/etc radio stations. If possible, one that has a few usual world stations already as part of the application to get one going.

    Thanks.

teamviewer is probably your best bet, or kaseya is another one. microsoft even do one now called live mesh if you want to google that too and give it a go. MyIVO, skyfex, yuuguu and more no doubt. :)

if you were going to set up SSH tunnels, then VNC or RDP would work fine though.

personally i prefer teamviewer because i have multiple monitors at home and it's the only one that allows me to switch between them easily and doesn't screw up the aspect ratio either. also, you can login to it online or install a teamviewer app (or run it without installing) so it covers all the bases pretty well.

if you have multiple monitors that are both the same resolution and have an identical resolution on the other side, you can actually set up RDP to span both, but it doesn't work properly if you're mixing and matching resolutions unfortunately.

Yup. Avoids having open ports on your router too.

Generally if you get the address of the radio feed, you can stream it in whatever player you want then.

This site is pretty handy for getting links to the streams.

    Teamviewer for RDP may suit.

For UNIX OS's, you wont beat a OpenSSH setup for it's simplicity, reliability, and ability to tunnel individual X application output without having to resort to a full desktop job like VNC. Low overhead even with encryption. Windows port: http://www.freesshd.com/

Outside of that, for windows, a terminal server and client combo or even a VNC client/server setup should do the job.

Ill go with teamviewer too. Lets you create a login that keeps a record of your installed computers, allowing you to access them all from the one screen. Also works on linux computers as well as windows/mac.
