If I close my eyes and hold a pencil upright about twelve inches from my face and slowly move it back towards my face I can feel it when it's about six inches away, a tingling sensation between the eyes. Try it. Something to do with the aura. Weird.

I'd imagine it's because you know when it's close to your face (because you're holding it). Get someone else to move the pencil around and you be feeling any 'auras'!
