Hi folks, I was just in the new Tesco opticans in naas and they have their own brand sports glasses with uv400 , anti fog external lenses and prescription glasses inserts for 60 quid.

They are a hard plastic lens on the outside and the frames have a similar shape and function to the bolle tracker glasses. There is also a foam surround like a good airsoft mask to completely seal off from stray bbs . They look like an excellent solution for those of us who wear glasses and get fogged up. They are similar to the ess idea of a skeletal frame behind a lens.

    Anybody else seen them?

Did they list any ballistic ratings on them?

Only good if they're ANZI rated, otherwise, they're just flashy sports glasses.

I didn't notice any ballistic rating on them, I wouldn't say they are tested. They would be double lensed with the prescriptions separate on the inside. Sturdy looking outer lens.

I was just wondering of anybody had actually seen them.

my brother got a pair of sports goggles/glasses from some opticians in town he paid about 60 notes for them. when he tested the hard plastic lens with his p90 that fires at around .85 it shattered them.

They're not designed for airsoft, if you want prescription lenses, Oakley make them afaik.

when he questioned about use for airsoft he was told by the optician that they should be perfectly safe. he was luck he tested them out first.

"Should" the operative word there. If I went to an airsoft shop and bought an AEG to be told "it should work" I'd put it back and get my money back.
If you want the prescription lenses, please get the proper things, not Tesco opticians ones, you only have one pair of eyes, make them last.

A lot of people make them, the problem is prescription strength. Most companies won't do an ANSI rated lens beyond +/-4 at the very most. If your Rx is higher than that, you'll have to settle for goggles with a non-ANSI rated lens insert, behind the goggles own ANSI rated visor.
Like I said, a lot of people make them, but you'll be expecting to pay in excess of €150 easily. My last pair of snowboard goggles (same ANSI rating as airsoft goggles) came to €220, and I believe ESS wanted about the same when I investigated a pair of dedicated airsoft goggles for myself last year.

€60 wouldn't get you the frame for ANSI Z81+ spec glasses, let alone frames and rated Rx lenses. They're sunglasses, nothing more.
