I have sky HD in the Front room and a normal Sky box in the kitchen. I am cutting back on costs and am looking for options.
I won't be canceling the front room HD package but I am trimming it down to a few packages.

My dilemma is the Kitchen, its big and we have a sofa and flat tv screen in there. I don't want to pay for multi room anymore. This means I will loose RTE 1,2 and TV3 if i cancel it. I can live without them but having said that I kinda like flicking onto them now and then.

If I cancel my Sky Multi room am I better off

    A. keeping the box and just using it with limited channels and get a Saorview decoder

    B. Get a Freesat box and separate Saorview decoder

    C. Get a combi box. (Are the satellite channels any good on this compared to a sky box without a card or Free-sat?)

I have a HD ready TV in the kitchen as well so I am also thinking about the various options of HD.

I know any requirement to purchase new hardware will cancel out any saving I get from canceling SKY M/R, But this should be only for the first year.

I am sure I am not alone with this problem. Any advise would be greatly appreciated

Freesat channels are identical to the FTA channels you will receive on the multiroom box so pointless changing it,check and see if your tv is capable of picking up dtt.If not get a saorview box for the Irish channels and save a few quid not splashing out on a combi box that costs €160.

You can cancel the phoneline too once you get rid of Multiroom.

List of channels a Sky box with no sub gets. It's not limited!
