    I have a phillips 7000 series, and i cant get any saorview channels working on it.
    I have a bunny ear aerial because I live relatively close to the three rock mast.
    I have tried using locations Ireland and UK on country selection. I am also selecting DVB-T, but still nothing. I get RTE 1 and 2, but nothing else.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Is the TV Mpeg4 compatible?

    If you are only getting RTE1 & 2 then you must be picking them up on a the VHF analogue signal.

    Saorview requires a UHF Aerial, rabbits ears aren't great at picking up UHF signals but if you're close to 3 rock you should still pick it up with a little playing around. If possible try placing the aerial near a window facing the direction of 3 rock.

    No VHF from Three Rock. Possibly you are getting RTE 1/2 because they are on the low end of UHF band from Three Rock. TV3 and TG4 are further up the band so the rabbit's ears are not working well as jobyrne has indicated. Try shortening the elements and placing them horizontally at right angles to the transmitter - kind of like this in plan view.

    transmitter ---> o ......some distance from transmitter ............. | <---- aerial

    Once you can receive TV3 and TG4 in analogue, then you can try getting DTT on channel 54 (738MHz).

    You need to be at a window facing the transmitter. Ideally a cheapo loft mounted UHF aerial would be best if you're reasonably close.

    You mean you spent all that money on a nice TV and are trying to run off a crappy indoor aerial of the wrong band. Spend a bit more and have a proper outdoor aerial erected.

    You wouldn't try to run a Rolls Royce on paraffin would you?

    Yeah, looks like I'll just have to get an aerial for outside, as the room with the TV is north-facing, but the 3 rock transmitter is to the south of my house.

    Try a different internal aerial first. I'm in Stillorgan and have small indoor aerial on north side of house and getting perfect DTT reception

    No, he will need outdoor aerial in attic or outdoors.

    An indoor aerial really only works you are either very close to TX site or the window in the room can "see" the TX site.

    There is one spot in my bedroom where even 6"/15cm wire on end of coax works. For the rest of the house even a good Indoor aerial gives terrible reception. I have a small 10 element aerial just above back door as there is a better signal than on chimney due to mature Beech trees.
