Will a Mondeo engine fit a Focus?

    As the title says, both engine's are 1.6 petrol and both from 00 cars. Thanks in advance

    I think they are the same engine alright but it is the other bits and pieces that may not be interchangeable.

    The 00 focus and mondeo 1.6 engines are not the same.

    The use different compression as well as numerous other differences like coolant outlets etc

    I'm open to correction on this but I think that the Focus uses a "black top" Zetec while the Mondeo uses a "Silver top" Zetec engine.

    They are not interchangeable, as there are differences in sump, engine mounts on block, water pump rotation, inlet manifolds etc.

    I was looking at dropping one into a mk2 Escort and I discovered that there was a world of differences between them.....

    From June 1998 the Mondeo petrol engine changed from silvertop to Blacktop Zetec;)

    I just checked up this morning and they are completely different engines altogether.

    Thanks for that info, by any chance does anyone know up to what year focus engine will fit a 00 focus.

    They came out in 98 and ran untill the new model in 04/05.

    The will fit up to the 08 mark, but you will have to swap stuff around.
