7 day ban and infranaction harsh

    The thread
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=69890121#post69890121

I saw this post for which the poster got a 7 day ban

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=69887820&postcount=82

And I replyed that it was "bit bloody harsh" and I got a 7 day ban for my comment and an infraction.

I still think the original posters banning was very harsh and when I see things like that I comment on them. I wasn't commenting on the moderator but the rules on the forum and the way they were interpreted I think a warning would of sufficed. My subsequent post was thanked by a number of people which lead to it being deleted.

My appeal is over the banning and the length of it. I have been in contact with the mod and told "I am not reducing the 7 day ban."

It's been 5 days and there hasn't been a cmod reply to this and the ban is up in two days,
    has it been forgotten about?

Not really, since you were in fact commenting on the mod's action on thread, something which will get you an infraction and ban in any forum. If you feel the rules of the forum are wrong, then the appropriate place for that discussion is in Feedback.

I appreciate that often seems as if it's just a way for mods to quash dissent about their actions, but there are channels provided, and they're provided because discussion of mod actions on thread, if allowed, means that moderation drags threads off topic, which is not the idea.

There isn't, therefore, much I can do about this one.

    cordially,

Just in case Admin input is required by the OP.

I agree with the mod decision and the CMod arbitration. PI is 'harshly' modded because it has to be.

Questioning mod action is always a bannable offence on any forum on boards.ie. No problem here with the infraction either. It expires in 10 days anyway. :) Just take it on the chin, learn from it and move on :)

First off when was the ban increased from 7 days to 14 days, and I wasn't questioning the mods actions I was making a comment in the thread, my own opinion.

Honestly whats the point in making a dispute resolution thread and get not reply for 5 days then Thaedydal bumps the thread and I get an extra 7 days ban without even posting again. Was the thread just bumped to add on to the ban?

    smiley face to you too.

It is only a seven day ban, and should expire tomorrow. The ban has not been increased.

Commenting 'bit bloody harsh' on a mod action is rather definitely questioning the mod's actions, but whether you're offering your own opinion on moderation in thread, making a comment on moderation in thread, questioning the mod's decision, or celebrating the mod's decision - it's all the same thing. You don't discuss moderation on thread - and that word 'discuss' should be taken to include commenting on, commenting about, offering an opinion on, questioning, challenging, celebrating, and basically any other post offering any thoughts that relate to a moderator decision on the thread. If you have a comment to make, an opinion to offer, or thoughts to share on any moderator action, you PM the mod or Cmod, or you go through Feedback/DR - or you get a ban/infraction.

I did look at it when it first came up, but didn't think there was going to be anything I could do for you in this instance, so I was happy to leave it for one of the other CMods if they felt they could. Thaedydal bumped it when none of the other CMods had said anything either, so out of courtesy I made the same point I could have made five days ago.

    moderately,

To clarify the confusion there - the infraction expires in 10 days.
