    This is a puzzler

I have a project im working on and would like any help you may offer as ive seen conflicting information online.

We have a 50" Panasonic V20L. Its the non 3d version of the TV. But as the only difference between the 3d version of this display and the non 3d version is as far as I know the infra-red transmitter for the glasses and a firmware update, is it possible to use nVidia 3D Vision from a Pc(There is a D-Dvi to HDMI adapter that comes with the 3d vision kit) on this TV?

The requirements for 3d vision are basically the computer with the kit and card to run it plus a 120HZ display so I dont see why it shouldnt work but Ive seen conflicting reports online that there is some other built in archetecture only present in the 3d versions that is required for playback.

Anyone with experience to lend a bit of advice would be greatly appreciated before I take the plunge and make the investment in a new nVidia card and the 3d vision kit.

    Thanks in advance! :)

i've been wondering about this myself! i have the same TV, it is more than capable of showing 3D content (from a technical point of view) it just doesnt have the menu option to turn on 3D. if there was some device that could do all the magic 3D left-eye-right-eye gear and sync the glasses i reckon it would work no bother

I was indeed under the impression that it was just a firmware difference between the two models.

Bear in mind the "600Hz" is Sub-field drive which just means the panel runs at 50Hz but the backlight flashes it extremely quickly 12 times making the 600hz "sub field" this initially threw me off but.....

The VT20 (3d version of V20) has exactly the same 600hz sub field drive so... im hoping the panels are the same.

I just hope the V20 bios accepts a true 120Hz input

Hi lads, i have v20l as well and had loads of issues with it. Floating blacks, posterization (red/green faces), higly prone to image retention and whats most annoying skin tones appear to be shiny/oily. 2 weeks ago two patterns permanently appeared. Got that set in panasonic store in limerick in august and currently trying to get a refund or at least replacement, still wating for a technician call. I'd like to ask if you had any of these issues with your sets and where were your tellys manufactured. Mine was in chech republic.

oh and vt20 is suposed to have a different, quicker phosphor burning mechanism so v20 and vt20 wouldn't have exactly same panels
