I go through phases once or twice a year where I molt! I'm getting it really badly at the moment, loads of hair coming out when I wash and brush :( Is there products or treatments I could use to stop this?

My advice is to go a speak to your GP/Doctor, perhaps get blood test done and health check.

Hair loss can be an indication of underlying health issue. Please have this checked out. Hope all goes well and it is just one of those things.

That's quite normal actually, although you notice it more in the winter because cold weather is bad for the hair follicles, as is spending lots of time in centrally heated buildings.

 I don't think it's a medical issue! It's not like it's coming out in clumps, just a few more hairs in the plug hole than usual! As I said it happens about once or twice a year and I thought it was normal enough!! Well eth0 says it is so hopefully that's the case :D I was just wondering if I should be using something to strengthen my hair while it was happening or should I just stick it out!

Ah, in that case sounds okay. Just wash and condition as usual.

I would always advise people to have things checked out, belt & braces approach:D

Take some vitamin B6, they're good for strengthening hair. You can get them in any good chemist. They only cost a couple of euro.

The missus has had this for the last few years, she was really concerned. She went to the doctor and got various tests done, all came back as normal. It just seems to be something that happens.

She has been taking some sort of pill recently that is supposed to help your hair, I think she bought them in a health shop. They seem to have helped, I'll find the name later on and post it.

Do you mind if I ask if you worry about things because this sometimes can cause for you health to dis improve and you hair to 'molt'
I know I saw something in Boots to help improve the quality and to thicken the amount of hair that you have, that might work, good luck.:)

OK the stuff she got is called Silica Complex. There are 120 'pills' in the container which is blue and grey. They are a Holland & Barrett product.

Not particularly. I haven't been going through any additional stress than usual lately!

Thanks a million for that. I'm going shopping after work so will pick some up :)

Heh that's unfortunate, thankfully that hasn't happened to my missus. Her hair is looking healthier than it was which is great.
