    Hope someone can help,

I have a pop rivet gun (hand held type) and used it to rivet in my rear screen on my MGF.
A couple of the rivet ends got stuck in it but after a few attempts of pushing the handles together, they fell out.
Anyhow, one got stuck and I couldn't remove it so I (stubidly) unscrewed the back of the gun, the spring, front bit and other bits fell out, as did the rivet end but I have no idea how it goes back together!
It is a halfords item, on their website as http://www.halfords.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_11101_catalogId_15551_productId_211934_langId_-1_categoryId_212410

I can't take it back as I took it apart - please can anyone help???

Without seeing the bits i'm guessin you have a screw in nut, spring and two jaws...Take off the front rivet holder..drop in the jaws, they might be stepped to take the spring,in that case place the jaws into spring first and place the gun onto the spring/jaws...flip around and place screw/nut in to hold everything in place....sounds more complicated than it is...If theres no step, drop the jaws in first (noting that they fall in properly) followed by the spring and nut...:)
From memory there shouldnt be a whole lot of bits...:)

P.S. cant believe 30 views and no help....

bit cheeky but bring it back and tell them it was in the boot and rattled apart. If you're convincing enough it works

If it is a Halfords item don't bother putting it back together as you have a piece of rubbish. Just discard it in the bin. :p

Cheap pop riviters can be both frustrating and dangerous if they jam or brake, more than likely the rivits that are included in the pack are as inferior as the machine itself.

When buying one of these it is best buying a branded model like Facom, Draper or Sealey from a factors and not a spurious brand from an auto supermarket. They may initially cost you more but at least you will have a good tool that will last you a long time. :)

Had a Draper one and the handle broke at the pivot point...never again, they're ok for cheapo spanners though..

I had the same problem with one of these, rivets kept getting stuck.
Then I discovered that the rivet that fits snugly is not the one to use but the size below that,no problem since.:)
