A friend of mine is looking for a good putting coach. He plays off +1, so would be looking for someone capable at teaching elite players. Manchip springs to mind. I seem to remember McIlroy crediting him with improving his putting?

Has anyone been to him for a putting lesson? Or have any other recommendations?

Don't know about Neil Manchip as regards putting lessons but I would recommend David Mortimer in the Academy for a lesson with the 'Sam Puttlab' equipment. The puttlab will pickup idiosyncrasies in your putting stroke that the eye can't see. David himself is also excellent at giving you drills to make sure your making the correct stroke and rolling the ball correctly. I'd say a low man would benefit from it

Manchip is very good at what he does but he keeps it very simple. He won't majorly change technique unless he feels its something very obvious. He works alot on the mental side and just simplifying things in your head. I don't think he's for everyone because sometimes you have to be prepared to walk away from lesson thinking "did he actually change anything there" and at €110 euro an hour that can be hard to swallow. He's not really one for drills etc., he's more one for feel and working with what you have already with some small tweaks. But he does produce results albeit in a brave way i.m.o. He works with the very best players in the country and I haven't heard too many complaints so he must be doing something right.
Price is the major issue in these times though, but would definitely recommend trying him, maybe do half hour putting, half hour short game.
