R362 Monksland-Elan/Athlone upgrade works

    Ive seen signs up from VMS nearby that this was to be done June-October 2010 but the cones and a half complete roundabout junction remain.

    Is someone taking the biscuit here? One guy told me it was a case of "spending the remaining budget" etc but its New Years and nothing seems to be being done there.

    The road is pretty fecked too with the weather.

    FYI for the regulars who not been on the road, it is ~half KM west from N6 Junction 13. The stretch needed the upgrade as it contains Athlones second largest Employer as well as an Industrial Estate and alot of east-side emigrants (myself included) so is heavily trafficked. To prove my point, watch how many cars take the exit next time you do the Galway-Dublin run.

    As with most things that occur this side of the Shannon, there is little to no information available and nobody accountable to sort it ou (and yes i have contacted the Coco Pops (Roscommon County Council)
