Myson TRV's?

Had about 15 (Petite model) of these fitted to existing rads in November. I am seeing at least 10 of these showing signs of malfunction where in a cold room they're not letting the rad heat up fully. If I remove the head the rad heats up as normal. If I swap heads on rads the issue seems to move with the Rad. Anything I should check here or could I have faulty TRV's? It seems a very high % failure rate if they are faulty?

You could have silt or sludge in the system which is partially blocking the fittings, hence when the valve partially closes, its fully closed.

I meant to say "If I swap heads on rads the issue seems to move with the Head" - a typo sorry.

Sounds like a faulty head then. Had some problems with TRV's in my own house, but they're pegler, not myson

You can get a faulty head with any manufacture its not uncommon. I use myson so I would see alot of faulty heads, however I've also seen alot of danfoss valves etc.

Remember a TRV shuts off when the room is warm enough so just because the rad cools down or doesn't heat up fully doesn't mean the TRV head is faulty. Also remember the head needs air/space to get the temp of the room, being behind a curtain or sofa etc. is not giving a proper reading. Also I find TRVs that are vertical give a false reading because they get some heat from the side of the radiator, whereas a horizontal head doesn't. Also if you have room stats then they could be shutting the valve so the TRV won't heat to full temp.

1 out of 15 I would buy I would say is faulty (or i've just bad luck lol), say 8 per job on average so every other job may have a faulty one.

9 times out of 10 the client isn't using the TRV properly though. I was reconnecting a heating system on monday after the thaw and found 2 faulty trv heads on the system with the spins damaged/pin in head jammed out. clients never had the rad's on tho I don't think so I'm not surprised.
