Right, so i changed my name by deed poll, took ages, 100 quid and was worth it(or so i though) now ive updated my new name status with EVERYTHING ie. banks, ppsn, revenue, drivers licence etc.

All of them accepted the deed poll no worries. The passport office on the other hand think its useless, and i cannot renew my passport on my new name as i need proof of usage for 2 years!

Now, do any of you guys think its fair of having all of your documents on your new name and just your passport on your old? Anyone in the legal department maybe could give me some suggestions of how to fix this? i think its outrageous of having two names for two years...but this is just me

    Cheers in advance!

You need to get your old name entered as an observation. Easiest way round the problem.

Right, cheers lads, i tried it, they were a bit wary of it tho and made me write a letter to why they should put my new name down, but hopefully it will work out.
    Thanks!

They gave me the same guff before when I chose to take my wifes name. I needed to point out to them that a man is perfectly entitled to take his wifes name. Once they were put straight on the matter everything was sorted. You may need to speak to a senior officer in the Passport Office to get any satisfaction.

Does the passport office not recognise deed polls when they are registered with the Courts Service?

Wrong. They are ensuring people are genuine.

I was told that a registered Deed Poll was sufficient evidence of a name change. The problem must be down to individual people at the PO.
