Have an 08 Galaxy. Last couple of days the climate control has started just blowing cold air no matter what temperature its set to. Any ideas? Anyone else have a similar problem?

Is the engine heating up normally, gauge sitting at midway?

yep. Engine right temp, its like the heat is bypassed. Mechanical?

i doubt its mechanical, seen the engine is heating correctly, that rules out a lot of the serious problems that cold air is a sign of.
Much more likely its a problem with the heater system itself, could be anything from an electric fault in the control panel, one of the doors not opening (these open and close to allow hot water through) or maybe an air lock.

Keep an eye on the temp gauge while driving and just take it to a garage.

Check your coolant level, depending of the layout of the cooling system, if it runs low you can loose the interior heating first before you get engine cooling issues.

OK. will check coolant first, then off to rip-off Ford

Well if its a fault with the heating controls etc then surely its still under warranty?

Yeah, not sure about how long the warranty is on a Ford. If 3 years then hopefully will be covered, but tbh I can't recall.

Just checked ford website and it looks like 2 years, which would be typical... 6 months out of it.:(

its more than likely your heater motor resistor....you are kind of lucky in a way as the galaxy is the same as the vw sharan and seat alhambra so there are a few more places out there to get the part cheap...even main dealers can have a big differnce in price for the same part in different brands

So how do I haggle that? If I go to a garage and they find the problem, its a bit late to say I'm off somewhere cheaper...

The heater resistors for the older model fords are quite cheap from ford, wouldn't certain on the latest models though.

why not...you have the right to choose to get the repair...after a quick search though ive found that this part is specific to ford but its in a number of ford models focus ect... this is the ford part number you are looking for 6G9T-19E624-AD ...pop it into google and have a look for yourself. but get the fault diagnosed first

Thanks guys. I know a repair guy and as its out of warranty I think I'll get it done privately.
