Hyundai Santa Fe

Been looking for a cheap (up to around 1250 euro) swb commercial jeep, hard enough to find at the moment. I want it as a second vehicle, that's why I don't want to spend too much money, it'll be for the rougher roads round here (and jaysis they're rough) and winter driving. I drive a merc vito 110CDI, crewcab van, and I'm kinda attached to it, otherwise I would've considered selling it and spending more on a jeep.
I rang this guy I know and he said all he's got in at the moment is a Hyundai Santa Fe, '01, he's done everything on it, timing belt, new head gasket, full service, tyres like new, he just put on new tie-rod and said all it needs is tracking done. It has all the extra's, air con, leather, alloys and all that, supposed to be a lovely drive. Was looking for 2400 but will let it go to me for 2000 as I bought vehicles from him before. Now I'd rather a trooper or pajero myself and I don't want to spend that much, but am asking on a friend's behalf, anyone any thoughts on the Hyundai?

don't get one of those toy jeeps if your going on rough roads. you should get an old pajero, they are as hardy as goats knee.

Cheers. Was leaning that way alright. I like the look of older jeeps too. More utilitarian, and I like the boxier ones. Wasn't for me though. Old swb pajero or trooper would do me.

Btw I have a goat, got 3/4 acre of grassland around the house, she's my mower, does a great job. Without her grass would be knee high in summer. But yeah, they're hardy alright.;)
