Commercial VRT Rate Under 3.5T

Hi,

Does anyone know anything about the vrt rate for commercials being increased from €50 to 13.3% of OMSP?

I've heard that from the first of January this is now the case, so does this mean that caddy & transit vans will be a lot dearer to vrt?

Also i've heard that you will no longer be able to import BMW X5's Range Rover Vogue's etc as commercial's unless they are manufactured as commercials, so no more conversions being imported for €50 euro?

Has anyone heard of this as a friend has told me this and i don't know if there is any truth in this or not?

yep, the flat fee of fifty euro goes up to two hundred in may of this year, and no mention of the change to jeep conversions, just a further point, dont all these jeeps come in to the country as fully fitted, and are converted when imported, so not a factory fitted vechicle.......

Yea i've heard of this increase to 200 euro in the budget, but what he was telling me was that from the 1st of January 2011 it has increased to 13.3% of OMSP?

That's a huge increase could it be true?

below taken from the citizens advice, so just like the changes to the commercial tax on van, difference of opinion, lets hope its the goverment site telling the truth on this one, but the track record might not be great.......
Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT)

The car scrappage scheme is being extended for the period 1 January to 30 June 2011. VRT relief of up to €1,250 will be provided where a car of 10 years or older is scrapped in accordance with certain criteria and a new car of emissions bands A or B (i.e. with CO2 emissions of 140g/kg or less) is purchased.
The VRT relief for series production hybrid and flexible fuel vehicles, due to expire on 31 December 2010, is being extended for 2 years until 31 December 2012, with the rate of relief provided being up to €1,500.
Light commercial vehicles charged VRT at the Category C VRT rate of €50 will, from 1 January 2011, be charged the Category B rate of 13.3% of the Open Market Selling Price (OMSP).

Commercial Discovery 4s for Ireland now come from the factory ready converted. Land Rover would not lower themselves to produce commercials of the flagship vehicles though.

So are they subject to the 13%?
