Magazine Upgrade Echo 1 ASR

    Evening lads,

Had an interesting idea the other day; one that's met with good response with those who i've mentioned it to. I currently use the Echo 1 ASR Sniper, most of you are probably familiar with it as the cheap wonder-sniper from Main Irish Airsoft.

I'm looking at upgrading the magazine to an M4 or similar, giving me much more ammo cap. Now, many of you will probably say "buy a better sniper with a bigger mag", something along the lines of the M14, but the simple fact is that I'm attached to my ASR and i'd much rather upgrade it.

If any of you have any experience upgrading guns for mags that perhaps weren't exactly made for them, please drop your two cents here because any help would be excellent. My particular style of sniping requires more than my current mags can hold, even having more than one mag of this size.

So, in short, upgrading snipers for large magazines - experiences, ideas, etc.

Thanks lads, and belated Happy New Year

That's not what I'd say at all. I'd say fire less. The best snipers I've come up against would barely make it through a mag in a game. I know one that used to turn up with just a rifle and a single, filled speedloader.
You're kind of taking away the point of a bolt action rifle as used by a sniper. I'm not exactly au fait with the precise rifle you speak of, but most bolties use magazines around the 25 round capacity mark, and the mags themselves are pretty small. Using an AEG mag is going to be more hindrance than help as I'd see it. All the pitfalls of a marksmans rifle (like the M14 you mention, but there are a wealth of others) in length, bulk and operation, but none of the benefits like semi-auto fire.

That said, if your heart is set on it, the easiest way I could think of would be to join an existing magazine for your rifle to an AEG magazine to act as an adaptor/interface. It would take a bit of destructive engineering and a liberal application of Tec-7, but it's do-able.
If you are going ahead with it, might I recommend you use a VN midcap? It'll be the easiest size to work with and play with, should you choose to.

Thanks for the input, I know it's not exactly the usual sniper way of thinking. It's just about as 'outside the box' as things can get - most snipers I can think of would see it as a crime against nature to use a mag of any more than the usual 25 rounds.

The adapter-interface idea is a curious one, it's definitely on the maybe list as a very good, far out idea. VN Midcap recommendation is also definitely noted. Nothing will go ahead for a long time - the more input I get the better, after all.
