Think i spotted an Easy Jet plane coming in to land at shannon today, around 11.50am. Plane was white and could see a fluro orange tail so i assume it was easy jet. Is some maintenance for them done at shannon or was it there for another reason?

    Cheers,
    Mel.b

there have been some Easyjet aircraft in Snn for maintenence, repainting and for training a few times this year, most likely maintenence.
sorry bout the pic quality, original is much clearer, uploading to photobucket seems to have made a hoop of it :(

I did my base training at Shannon back in 2008. It is a common place for such training to take place, not that busy it the main advantage. It was cool for me as I used Shannon a lot as a kid flying to/from The States so it was nice to fly there myself! I haven't been back since though :( But that afternoon was fun albeit nerve racking as base training tends to be!

I'm not that familiar with the maintenance facilities there but I know there are two and a painting facility so I guess the easyJet bus may have been at one of them. Or, there was someone doing a base check and therefore no doubt under a little pressure!

What is base/circuit training can I ask? Is it like what I had the privelege of seeing the Concorde do back in the 80's one day in Shannon, take off, do a circle and land? I'll never forget seeing the Concorde on approach. Absolutely fantastic, and the noise! Happy days!

When you do a type rating it's when you get an aircraft type put on your licence. It's the last stage of the type rating i.e after the simulator, class room, written exams is the base check. It's 6 T/Os and landings (touch and go's) and it will be the first time you actually fly the aircraft as opposed to the sim!

Yeah I heard about the Concorde doing xing at EINN in the past, I would have loved to have seen it! My crowd use SNN for xing but the most exciting prospect we can offer you is a 777 or 340 doing touch and go's or go arounds!

No it wasnt in SNN for maintenance, none of Easys 319's were in before.

Iv'e seen a Virgin A340 in the past there, bout 4 years ago at this stage, what the hell was doing go arounds this morning??? it looked like a CASA but it was US military i think

you are correct with MON & KL. U2 are Easyjet.
