Uocked 3GS Losing signal constantly

How's things folks, did a search on this but couldn't really get any answers. I got my gf a 3GS a couple of months back it was bought new in October but I bought it off the net. How's things folks, did a search on this but couldn't really get any answers. I got my gf a 3GS a couple of months back it was bought new in October but I bought it off the net. Aaaaanyways, it's unlocked and jailbroken with cydia. She's using a meteor sim. It was working perfectly until Christmas where she now pretty much has no signal at all. I haven't tried my o2 sim in it yet so don't know if it's that. It turned off 3G on the phone too but hasn't made any difference. It this a common occurrence? Is there any way of fixing it?
