Hi folks hoping someone can help me out with bit of career advice,

I recently sat the New FAEs in September and passed my Auditing Elective but failed my FAE core due to Business leadership. My training contract is up this March,2011 and I don't really know what to do with my career.

Would anyone have any advice? Am I best to move on from my training firm as a part qualified accountant? Also would everyone agree I should resit my FAE Core or is ACCA an option? Really appreciate all the help, Cheers

You could have possibly 5 exams to sit if you switch to ACCA and most people wouldn't attempt more than two at a time. so all in all you're looking at an extended time frame qualifying if you switch to ACCA. Might be better to stick with ACA and give it one more go.
Jobs wise it depends where you trained, what area you have experience in etc. It's hit and miss.

I'm based up in Belfast in a medium sized firm within the audit department although I do quite fancy a move away from the audit just for a change. I think attempting the ACA route one more time in September of this year is probably the best option for me. Was just incredibly frustrating to pass all technical modules such as tax, financial accounting, etc and to fail on the waffle of Business Leadership, just feel bit let down by the system unfortunately but there's many others effected not just me I suppose

I'm in the same position feel like i'm stuck in the system at this stage, have been doing aca exams since 2006, so frustrating, could go on and on. Passed my elective and failed core on business leadership aswell.

I've been with my firm since 2005, so contract well up at this stage, just gonna give these exams one last go in sept, but the thoughts of studying for all that crap again is a killer.

Are you gonna do that revision course? I dont think i'll bother. And this new Financial Reporting lark exam in March!

My problem last year was not sitting down and actual attempting the case studies. I'm just gonna concentrate more on that this time and hope for the best!

I feel robbed to be honest, can't quite understand how we can all fail on business leadership. Has anyone figured out why?was there an indicator we all missed or something?

I'm jus gonna have to fork out for the resits, don't think I'll bother with the revision course cause unless they tell me were the business leadership indicators are I seemed doomed to fail!

Any info on this continuous assessment? Is it just on financial reporting? And will it jus be an exam?

    Cheers again

Think its broken into 3 parts, the first two parts contain 5 multiple choice questions so your either right or wrong then the 3rd part is 5 short questions. I could be wrong on this, not really gonna worry about it yet, its at the end of March that much I know.

Regarding the Core, the only changes are that a few of the smaller standards in FR are omitted and there's a new Combined Code.

Any idea do we get an updated book for tax??
