Are we counting the first night in resort as well? I did in my last count but don't think I will now as even just getting to the resort and seeing snow is worth it, on a mountain where it is fun rather than on our streets.

    4 sleeps for me now.

I'd say email - it's less confrontational. Are you staying in a hotel? You could ask them where is good to rent. I can't remember where we rented in Zell... it was near our hotel though!

I'm in the same boat in a couple of weeks time. I should get to Zell early though so I can call around a few places. There is a few Intersports in the town and beside one of the lifts and they do this thing called best price which is a discounted price for ski rental and your lift pass. Google Intersport and Zell am See and you'll get the website. I haven't looked to see if any smaller shops are doing discounts off rental yet myself. There is a list of rental shops on the official Zell and Kaprun website.

Could you find the house on the map? www.zellamsee-kaprun.com

Check out the SkiMobil ski rental. They are a mobile bus ski rental who showed up at our hotel the night we arrived 3 years ago. Dead handy and beats the queue the first morning or hiking across town, both of which I've done before.

You'll need to book in advance, will be a bit of a rush between now and flying, but hope you see this in time.

    THREEE MOREE SLEEEEPS.

Can't wait! Got the last minute bits and pieces last night. Even managed to get trapped inside a sports bra in the changing rooms of M&S. Nearly had to ring my husband to help me out of it. He was wondering what was taking so long, he was having a bit of a Father Ted experience lurking around the linger-lie dept.

Intersport under the City Express lift in Zell (and possibly other places) had a ski hire package where the kids gear was free when you rented sets of adult stuff, so keep an eye out for that on the brochures.

It used to save us a packet as we brought our own boots and so only needed to hire skis for 2 adults and we got skis, boots, helmets for the kids thrown in for free.

We went to Westendorf last year and were gutted to find there was no Intersport there. Got ripped big time by the ski hire place we went to and won't be making that mistake again this year.

I also availed of this offer one year with the kids, great deal.

I was also buying new skis the same year and the same shop allowed me to ‘try before you buy’ different sets of skis without even a deposit, credit card etc. I could have been anyone and easily gone off with the skis (not that I would).

In the end I tried 7 sets of skis and bought a set in the end. How helpful is that :)

Great as long as the posters rented place is near there and not over in Schuttdorf - although thinking about it there is actually an Intersport there too ( I nearly bought a few things there one day last year) so they might do the deal there. That Intersport under the City Express was where my friends hired their gear and had no complaints. They stored all their gear there too each night which was handy.

@hellfireie - can you not find out the address of your place?

Well that is Kitzbuhel done now, just waiting on the bus to take me off to the airport now. Good fun this week, actually pretty good skiing even though they are desperately needing a new dump of snow and it was raining heavy all day on Thursday. Got to ski down small bits of the downhill run before they completely closed it of, we had to traverse just below the start gate on a section of carpet so that we didn't damage the surface. One of my mates is due to be one of the course side slipping people during the race but they apparently have to do a speed test thing to check they are able to make it through some sections in between racers.

I'm back too, very BIG sad face. Good snow in Ischgl, very cold towards the end of the week. Bit of a sausage-fest in that resort. Dunno if we'd go again.
