12 Days in the region around Singapore

Meetin one of the lads in Singapore and we have to kill 12 days before Philippines.. Any ideas of where to go apart from Bali/Gili and Malaysia? At the moment the plan is Gili but I'm a bit tired of beaches right now... Anyone done Sumatra? Worth goin to Medan or that?
