Which controller should I get?

    Hey all!

Got a Wii from Santa (:D) and having never had a Gamecube, it's my first time back with Nintendo since the glory days of my N64 - so I hope to be visiting this forum more often from now on!

Anyhoo, I'm going to get Goldeneye asap and I want traditional, standard type controller to play it with. I also probably want to get a few Gamecube games in the future. So, should I try and save money and get a GCN controller now, or get a Wii Classic controller for the time being - ie, do Wii games like Goldeneye suit the Wii controller better?

    Cheers!

Hey Schorpio, congrats on the new wii!
Well when it comes to the controllers, both have there benefits. First of all if you are going to get a GCN controller, get the wireless wavebird there isn't much point getting the non-wireless ones. That's also pretty much the only benefit over the wii's classic controller as it needs to be plugged into the wiimote. On the down side GCN controllers are pretty chunky.

As for the classic controller, personally it has the superior button layout, especially for Virtual Console games. It's also a nice size and in reality being attached to the wiimote isn't really annoying, I don't notice it. Also make sure to get the classic PRO as it's buttion layout and design is better than the original, although I think Nintendo has discontinued the original, at least it has where I'm from (Australia).

You said you were getting Goldeneye, well in most places it comes bundled with a golden classic controller pro so you should be fine with just sticking with that.

    Hope I've helped!

On a side note, have you done the Nintendo's Connection Ambassador Promotion Yet? If not I'd appreciate doing it with you, then we can both get 500 wii points free! If you haven't heard of it, here is a link explaining what it is and how to do it!

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I knew that you can get Goldeneye bundled with a gold classic controller, but if you buy a the game and controller separately from Amazon it works out cheaper! I'll go for the Classic controller so. I was already leaning towards it. Probably end up getting a GCN controller down the line too!

Yeah, I had heard about the ambassador program alright and you've saved me the bother of finding someone. PM'd you my console number! :)

I'd say the classic controller pro as well. The only word of warning is that you can't use it with Gamecube games if you were planning to play any of them on your Wii. You have to use a Gamecube controller for them. Personally I only have 2 Gamecube games and I got a Gamecube controller in Game for 7 euro so it wasn't a big deal getting both.
