    Hey All,

I'm in the Higher Certificate in Computing Applications and Support Year 2.

I am about to start second semester and I'm aware that at the end, I will have the option to go on to year 3 and 4 of the BSc in Computing.

I'm not really sure which option to choose.
    There are 3 options:

    Gaming and multimedia

    Networking and Mobile Technologies

Software Design (which I don't want to do)

So it's between the first 2 and I was wondering if anyone has done or is doing any of those 2 now and tell me what they think of it.

I like the idea of the netowrking but not sure about teh mobile technologies part.

And the gaming one sounds fun but I was wondering if i could get more information on what it's like and the kind of things you do.

    many thanks.

    Where do your interests lie?
There is a huge difference between a software engineer and a network engineer.

My interests are what presents the problem.

I really like the idea of Networking as I'm into all that but don't exactly like the idea of the Mobile Tech although it might be good.

For Gaming & Multimedia I actually both alot but not sure it's the type of career path I wanna take.

That's why I was hoping I would get people who have done either of the two specialisations so I can have a better Idea of what's involved in each.

I am slightly leaning towards Networking, but as I said I'm not sure how much I like the idea of the mobile stuff. But the I like both aspects of the gaming.

Maybe it was a silly thread and it's really a question only I can answer but If anyone does have an info about the two specials then please feel free to post. I know someone interested in the gaming one anyway so it would be a help.

I'm in 2nd year of Business Information Systems and I was told that in 3rd & 4th year BIS will focus more on multimedia/web whereas the BSC in Computing will focus on programming (I know 3 people from BSHC who are moving to BIS because they've had their fill of Java/DSA).

Speak to the course administrator (I think it's Shauna for daytime and evening) and she might have the 3rd year module desciptors available (although seeing as we're the guinea pigs for the new course structure, maybe not).
