So I'm goin to try and get to the point here...
Currently have an Audi A4 1.9 TDi 130 brake ...I feel its a bit too costly in terms of servicing, timing belt and parts in general, so I'm considering a change. I drive around 200 - 300 miles a week, maybe even less some weeks.
Is it worth changing to a petrol? Are they less hassle?

I'm hoping to get my own insurance so it cant be too big an engine but at the same time I'd like to have the power that I have in the Audi.
I'd like to go for something sporty if insurance allows,
    so maybe
A civic? (typical 19year old choice, but its a nice car and handy enough to run)
An Integra?...hardly gonna happen with insurance!:(
    A BMW 316/318 ...
    An FTO..
Been as I wont be doing that many miles I'd like to think I could get a fun car rather than just something to go from A to B.
My current car is a 02 and Im wondering should I trade, or try and sell privately?? I'd be hoping to get around 5500 for it at the moment and maybe put 1 - 2k with that..

Apologies for the horribly organised post too!:D

Any idea's or advice at all???

If you're happy with the Audi then keep it - you'll lose many years of the difference in service costs in the cost to change. If you'd like a change anyway then that's a different matter.

na wouldn't do it. remap your current car and lower it a bit and it should feel more sporty.

Sorry that should actually be 2 and a half years claim free driving!...how time flys!
The thing is by the time I get a remap and a set of coilovers its gonna be fairly costly wont it??...and a remap wont give that much more power!
How reliable is the Honda Accord?....diesel I should say. I see a few lovely motors floating around these days!:D I would like a change as its a 2002 and getting to a troublesome age, so was hoping for maybe a 04 or 05, which isnt too optimistic, I dont think??:o

Remaps to Diesels can deliver 40-50 average extra bhp. Diesels respond very well to remapping as opposed to similar in a petrol equivalent.

Im confused on how his statement of

"Currently have an Audi A4 1.9 TDi 130 brake ...I feel its a bit too costly in terms of servicing, timing belt and parts in general, so I'm considering a change."
    leads to:
"spend money on a remap and coilover suspension". ?
    :pac:

Basically OP you want a fun'ish car (coming from a 1.9TDi, thats basically everything else) thats basic to run?

Thats from a suggestion by another user that a remap and getting the car lowered will make it "sporty"!:)
I like the power of the A4 but I think its just too awkward and heavy, I'm only 19 so a massive engine car is out of the question.:(
I just wanted to hear some suggestions as to what ye guys think would be a suitable replacement for my current car, and not too costly to run!:o

Your going to get raped on Insurance at your age, the TDI is cheap to insure compared to the similarly powered petrol, or at least I found anyway.

Thanks... I could have done without the raping to be honest ...:p

At the moment the best quote I've got is 3000 fully comprehensive, which isn't bad but at the same time, still too much!

What would your suggestions be for a similarly powered petrol car?

OP I would stick with the advice about getting a remap. You will have a nicer drive from your own car with possibly an increase in mpg.

If you go down the Civic/Integra/FTO route you will get to know your local filling station very well compared to what you are used to. You will probably go from 45mpg to 25mpg if you drive them like they are supposed to be driven plus an extra 10 cent on the litre for petrol. Also the insurance will be alot more.

You would gain nothing in getting a 316/318. Neither are any more fun than what you have already but will cost more at the pumps.

I say this as someone who has owned both an A4 Tdi and a 318

Lot's of 19 year olds would love to trade up to a 130 bhp A4.
Borrow a petrol junker from a friend for a week and you'll realise how good the Audi is !

Thanks for the advice people!:) Might stick with it so for the time being! If I stuck it out as a named driver for another year would a policy in my own name become any cheaper next year???
