Hi - I'd appreciate your advice on how best to manage my mobile and money while holidaying.

I plan on using the internet on my phone while abroad and I don't currently have a credit card.

Should I get an international sim card and a credit card?

where are you going and how long for?

personally i just check my mobile pricing before i go and generally there's some sort of data option for me (vodafone prepay). you have the option of buying a local sim card if you want.

a lack of credit card might effect you when renting a car or in some hotels but overall i wouldn't say it's essential. i bring some cash with me and go to the atm as needed then.

if you're off on your summer holidays for 2 weeks then i think you're overthinking the whole situation but if you're off for a year then you need to have a further look at your options.

    Thanks for the reply.

I have 2 holidays lined up for this year - 1 to the states which I won't need my phone for, and another longer trip which will take in europe and asia and which I will want to use my phone during without worrying about massive costs.
The latter trip will be for 6 weeks but I won't be in 1 country for long enough to merit buying sims for each country.

I'm also on vodaphone prepay at the mo.
