I am searching the market for the best 7 seater out there. I am leaning towards a new Ford Grand C Max as it seems fairly compact, low Co2, tax etc.
Have also looked at the Renault grand scenic and citroen C4 picasso.

If anyone has any recommendations or comments on the best family car out there (7 seater) or knows how to bump up previous threads on this for me I'd be very grateful!

    Opel Zafira OPC/Vauxhall Zafira VXR

They are cool imo although as 7 seaters go they are also among the smallest.

Having said that, cool and low tax/co2 don't go together.

Top gear did a head to head on the cmax and pic.
January issue, lancia stratos on the cover.

You mentioned the Grand C Max. Yes it is a nice car but its an expanded C Max really. For a much better vehicle I would pick a Titanium S Max.

That being said the pricing of the S-Max is crazy stuff.

Was in Faro a few weeks back, and got to see a cool SMax. Never thought I'd ever say that, but there you go. Dropped, tinted rear windows, black, spoiler on the back (Just a discreet one), nice alloys with chunky tires on them - not low profiles. Thing just looked like more of an executive taxi than an MPV.

Handy for venting awAy the inevitable stench of vomit in any rug-rat carrier. Also the whining from the back would not be too audible.

I had to turn to MPV ownership as a requirement for work.
I was less then thrilled with idea but soon began to find myself understanding and appreciating how bloody useful the things are.
So much so that I find it hard readjusting to normal car ownership.

Bloody expensive but good looking none the less?

    EDIT,
Note to self, learn to type faster.
    Berty beat me to it.

Yeah yeah, I'm listening about the dinged wing for a year now :) Satellite dish's still perfect BTW, didn't budge an inch in all the wind we've had, and snow didn't affect it in the slightest. Well impressed with your work!

Same place as a Toyota Previa and that still manages the full compliment of seats :P

I drive an S-Max, which is a 5 seater with two extra fold-up tiny seats. The Grand C-Max is smaller, it's really only a 4 seater with 3 tiny seats. For 7 actual seats you need something Galaxy sized.

    OP

You said a 7 Seater - so not just MPV's?

What about a Volvo XC90 or a Land Rover Disco?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,686 ✭✭✭✭Zubeneschamali

4x4s are so Celtic Tiger, not cool anymore.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 82 ✭✭alanclarke1975

    Eh - Ok

But so far all that has been suggested are tarted up MPV's to try and make them look half decent....no?

Its all a matter of opinion. Depending on your Situation (with recent snow etc) the 4*4's may offer a better all round solution to the "Best 7 Seater available"....

Yes the Celtic Tiger - Commercial Vehicle division ruined the perception of 4*4's especially when builders where converting Porshe Cayennes into Vans with no hint of a tow bar - so you had to ask the question - WHY?

Do VW have a new Sharan? Whats that like

Well OP , we have the Renault espace and if you want 7 seats with legroom then it's hard to beat . You can even reverse the middle row

For full 7, you will need Galaxy size as stated above. The others are a tight one. However all the Ford range of people carriers are really nice drivers. My mate worked in Ford and ive test drove near their entire range of cars.

Still you could try and squeeze the kids into the Focus RS. Little bit of WD-40 should do the trick.

In my Kia I carry my son in his wheelchair and still have six seats.:D

Cant say Im apposed to Kia in the slightest, they are turning out some good stuff lately.

However you have to say the Carnival is one ugly ugly beast.

    It's about €1200
But as my wife and son are disabled I don't have to pay it.Thank God.

We have a Zaferia, while it's a nice looking car and very pratical I wouldn't consider it cool, even the VXR one looks like it's trying too hard...

I think the Ford S-max are probably the best looking 7-seater particularly the top spec ones look real good... do they look cool ?? not sure if it goes just that far.

There is however a considerable price difference in a Zaferia and similar spec S-Max.

    Dude! That needs rephrasing!!

Seriously though, it must be pretty roomy if you're dealing with wheelchairs and whatnot. Are these seats full size?
