Architect to change plans

I currently have planning permission to build a 3400 Sq Ft house based in Co Mayo. I am interested in finding an architect/engineer for getting ideas and then hiring an architect to reduce the size via good design by up to 20%. I am not fully happy with the size and with good design, the size of the house could be reduced.

I dont want to hire an architect straight off but i just want to start with ideas to reduce based on the current design and rooms which have too much space currently. Will architects work in this way as i can send on current fully approved plans...or how do i make this work?

Also looking for recommendations on Architects who could help more do this...

All opinions welcome, i love most features of current house except that i feel its a little too big and would be smarter to reduce for various reasons.

    Thanks in advance
