    Hello

I recently bought a new Samsung LCD TV

I have a UPC box for my television ( the box that allows recording, pause etc. )

On my old tv, I could control the volume from the UPC remote control

on this new Samsung TV, I cannot control the volume from the UPC remote control, only from the Samsung TV remote control

The connection from the UPC box to the Samsung TV is via a scart cable ( same setup on old television )

But im wondering if I need additional audio cables from the UPC box to the Samsung TV to allow for me to change the volume via the UPC remote
I notice there are audio ports on the back of the UPC box

    1. Audio out. L and R
    2. Digital audio out

Anyone know if getting a cable between one of the above 2 and my upc box would fix the problem ??

Shouldn't make a difference to whether the remote control works or not. Your remote control was set up to work with your old TV. Unless you programme the remote control to work with your new TV, it will still be set up to work with your old one (assuming they are of different manufacturers).

The manual for your STB is here - http://www.upc.ie/pdf/DVRManual.pdf

Page 8 tells you how to set up your remote to work with your TV. A list of codes for different manufacturers are at the back of the manual.

Sorry for the hijack, but I've changed the batteries in my remote and it won't control the Upc box anymore, is there a video or the Upc box itself. I have a hd unit, the lights flash on the remote and I can use the buttons on the box to change channel but the remote and the box aren't talking, anyone an ideas? Thanks

Your best bet is to get on to customer service on that one, if the box wasn't controlling the TV i'd understand (the memory might have been wiped when the batteries were changed) but not controlling the STB itself would seem to be a bigger fault.

We don't drag up old threads but feel free to create a new one on this if you like.
