Barcelona area for family holiday

    Hi, usually go to France each year with wife and 2 kids but this year we've decided we'd like to go to Spain. Having weighed up some options, we think maybe the Barcelona region would suit our requirements in that it's easy to get to (options include Reus and Girona airports as well as El Prat in Barcelona itself)

    Ideally what we'd like is a self-catering option somewhere within say 40kms of Barcelona itself, and relatively near a beach and/or with pool included.

    What I'd like to avoid is the "all-day English/Irish breakfast, bars/drinking all night" type location - my kids are 10 & 7 so we're looking for somewhere family-oriented.

    Anyone have experience of staying in the this region with recommendations that might suit our requirements ?

    You might do well to rent a villa for the holiday so , i find generally the areas are quiter and bars and restaurants are usually walking distance away, but cause you have your own villa you arent under any pressure you can work to your own pace .

    I know the hotel Amister in Barcelona.

    You should also check on Venere.com and check for Barcelona surroundings. You might find what you need there!
