    Hello,

I was just wondering, what's the best way of travelling to the DSPCA @ Mount Venus Road,
    Rathfarnham,
    Dublin 16.

I have upcoming work placement, and I was hoping to use public transport (don't mind walking a bit also, live in Dun Laoghaire)

    thanks,

    Kevin.

Not too sure where in Dun Laoghaire you are.

The bus serving Rockbrook is the 161 which leaves from Nutgove and then you'll have about a 10 min walk, not a very frequent service. Or the DSPCA has the 74a to Stocking lane with many more buses, not too sure have long a walk you have from here.

But coming from either direction you are on narrow country roads that have a good bit of vehicular traffic, I'd get my hands on some Hi-Viz and a torch.

75 and 161 is your best bet. Make yourself as visible as possible because mount venus is quite a narrow and winding road.

Yeah, 75 and 161 will get you within a ten minute walk. If you don't make the 161 or it's not suitable, it's about an hour's uphill walk from the Yellow House up to the DSPCA.

The 74a is an alternative to the 161, with a longer walk. You can switch from the 75 to the 74a at the Yellow House, then get off the 74a at the junction of stocking lane/stocking avenue, and it's a 20/25 minute walk from there.

As tragedy says, the roads up to mount venus road are also without paths and street lights, so bring at least a torch with you for walking down in the evenings. Though once you get to know people on your first day, you'll probably be able to hitch a lift down to the 75 bus stop.
