    Hi

I last played a round of Golf 12 years ago, Ive probable only ever played 15-20 rounds of 9 holes when I lived in London. I had a mixed mongreal set and Im pretty sure every 3rd shot was taken with my favourite club at the time, an actual wooden womens 4 wood!I have zero recollection of how i was, only that I got a birdie 2 on my second ever hole and hit the pin with a tee shot once and I was a pretty good putter.

I play a bit of Pitch and Putt (Sorry if its a bad word in here) and would probably average 3.5 shots per hole on my local course. Quite literly i might play it 5 - 6 times a year.

I've been to the driving range a few times at the end of the summer and I think I can hit it pretty straight but not particularly long. I'm not even sure how wide a fairway will look in front of me so I don't know if my definition of straight will keep it out of the bushes.

    I'm left handed.

    I know nothing about handicaps

My Wife bought me these for xmas, they look like a pretty good beginners set

Thanks for reading so far. My question is this:

I want to play my local course in Fermoy soon, how many shots will it take me to get around the course? Would 120 be a stupid figure? Am i aiming too high or too low?

I'd really appreciate any feedback? Thanks
    Brian:confused:

An average fairway is about 15-25 yards wide, some bigger, some smaller....

This is coming from a rookie tbh, just get out and play it. if you are in anyway decent at hitting a ball, 120 is way to high... 105-110 be about what you should come around in (Thats assuming you can hit the odd ball reasonably)

Just get out and play and see what happens.... Most importantly, take your time and enjoy it.

Lets know how you get on and Good luck :)

OH, and your handicap for 1st round is 28....Once you join a club, give them your first 3 cards and they'll give you an official handicap

Quick google:http://www.golfer-today.co.uk/golf-handicap-explained.html Read that for handicaps

Only advice I can give is not to expect anything. Do your best on each individual shot and enjoy.

Play off 11 and only playing 5 years, so not very experienced. I play crap when I expect outcomes. Some days I drive well, other days my irons are good and fewer days my putting is good. On the odd occasion they all come together. I just go with the flow on the day and try to keep to my routine. Only thing I have noticed is that on the days where only my driving is good my scores are higher than when my driving is poor but I putt well.....short game is the key and I learned that from the guys on boards.

Once you have the first round under your belt you will have something to aim for and better. Happy golfing and best of luck.
