Hi all. I am wondering if anyone knows when I should be looking to get the timing belt changed out on the car? Its a 2.0HDI with 117,000km / 73,000mls on the clock.

I heard it could be over the 100,000mls area but don't want to take the chance of anything happening......

Check the owners manual, it will say when it needs to be changed. I'd say it's due a change soon enough though, might want to break out the tools to have a look at it yourself, see what kind of condition it's in?

They are long life belts on those, due every 240,000kms or 10 years.

No point in looking at the condition of a timing belt. Go by the mileage or age thats it

I know Peugeot say around 144,000 mls or ten years but i'd rather replace it at 100,000mls or within 5 years....:)
Also replacing the W-Pump and idler/tensioner pullys would be recommened.

You're better off getting quotes from maybe a main dealer plus an indy than asking on the net.

Costs vary hugely car to car, and even engine to engine.

OK. I did this work on a peugeot 406 two years ago at main dealer and I think it came to about 750 Euros.

I got my 407 done about 2 years ago and it was around the 650 mark from a pug garage.

On www.mycarservice.ie it's coming in at 510 though i'm sure you'll find somewhere cheaper then that

€450 is what we'd charging normally on the peugeot diesels...
