96 week rule

    Just wnat to know a bit more info on this.
    as a situation were a young player just outta minor from our club is choosing to transfer to a senior club 10 miles away, is there a due process, as to regards him sitting those 96 weeks even though the club are after doing everything within their power to keep him.

    this to do with a club and player based in Cork?? Think that a transfer can be turned down if it is shown that a player is refusing to play with his club in order to gain a transfer, but the club would need evidence of it

    No there is no such thing as 96weeks sit out etc... - there are very tight regulations about transferring. These days some sort of transfer has to be signed. The player could sit for 5 years, play no GAA games, and he is still a member of your club.
    He can appeal to the CCC of his county about the transfer - the points they look out are listed in the rulebook.
    It can get messy - at the end of the day my view has always been sit down and talk to the player - if he still wants to leave - wheres the form to sign it? Best to let them go.
