Hi , I'm about to book the psv test for a taxi in cork city. I have the official psv manual to learn the relevant knowledge about the industry etc. But I was wondering what I should use to learn for "area knowledge" section? Anybody able to give me an example of what type of questions to expect in the area knowledge section? any tips/info would be much appreciated

The general consensus of the computerised PSV tests is that for countywide ones you need to be prepared to know locations and landmarks in every town and city in it; in the case of Cork it means that you are as likely to be asked something about the likes of Youghal or Ballydehob as well as the city itself. In short, get out and learn everywhere using maps, tourism books, local guide information etc.

As above said. I did the Wicklow test a couple of years ago expecting questions on Bray and Greystones where I intended to work. I was asked about the entire county of Wicklow, which was a nice surprise, not. :D

Passed 2nd time due to remembering all the questions asked in test, and writing them down as soon as I got home.

    Good luck mate.
