I want to make a few game commentaries and put them on you tube.

I have a dazzle capture card.

I am wondering what program do you guys use to edit with?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Simon

    Hi Simon,

There's a forum specifically for Game Recording & Editing if you wanna have a look there.

I use Sony Vegas pro 9c but it is expensive. Windows Movie Maker is free, and comes on most Windows PC as standard.

Here's a guide to help you out

    Hope that helps

    Tal

    Thanks mil tallon.

I have Vegas pro already but couldn't find a good guide.

This one looks v helpful. I'm kinda noob-ish at this kinda stuff.

    Thanks again.

You'll struggle to get people to watch your gameplay because dazzle gives atrocious picture quality. Try upgrading to hd-pvr.

Not true, I watch a lot of SD stuff because either it's more enjoyable, or I'd rather listen to good commentaries

why would SD be more enjoyable?
What good commentators still use SD in 2011 ?

The gameplay, just because you have a HD PVR doesn't make you a better player

Whats your definition of a good commentator? Someone who has a HD PVR and 20K subs?

I have enjoyed SD gameplay mixed with 15, 16, 17 year olds commentaries that were much better than your Hutch or WOR etc

    I must agree with tallon.

How you record a game does not dictate how you play.

I am also not a director and my commentaries are not going to be viewed by thousands of people. 10 or 20 would be great.

Can you upgrade video quality through certain programmes?

There are guides on youtube on how to get the best possible quality from your dazzle, but it won't let you 'upgrade' the quality unfortunelty

What number of views do these 15-17 year olds have? What number of people consistently watch there gameplay's/commentaries that apparently are much better than Hutch or WOR ? (maybe if they had a HD quality then there views would more since apparently they are better commentators than people with 100k+ subscribers )

OFC OP will get random views from random viewers, but what will make it a success is if people stay and subscribe. If OP is happy just putting out vids on Youtube then GL to him. But I stand by my original post.

The fact of the matter is that he is competing with people that have HD quality capture cards and it is going to be tough to get people to watch them, regardless of game-play ability or commentating talent. And I stand by that fact. This is 2011 not 2008.

So to answer my question, it is a HD PVR and 20K subs that makes you a great commentator?

OP just wants to do something that interests him, he's not looking for life changing advice here.. It's a hobby that most of us enjoy doing regardless of high-end audiences or not

It is a HD PVR with great commentary and great gameplay that makes you a great commentator.

GL to OP in what ever he does.

How does a PVR make you a better commentator?

why do you keep confusing yourself?

HD-PVR is a tool to watch the gameplay. nothing more.

I'm not confusing myself at all, your saying that a commentator cannot be good if they are recording in SD

    WTF? That makes no sense

    When did I say that?
    You are confused

It has been established that OP only wants 10 views so a dazzle is fine. IF OP wants significantly more views he will need HD PVR. Because most people dont watch SD anymore, regardless of gameplay ability or commentating talent.
Does that clear up your confusion?

So you cant have a discussion with someone trying his best to explain a point that you have confused with out you resorting to personal slurs.

This really isn't a discussion for the Call of Duty forum. OP, as Tallon said in his first reply, there's a whole forum dedicated to game recording and editing now. Enjoy :)
