    The Quincunx by Charles Palliser
Started this one a few times, but its a book you need to commit to, with almost 2000 pages.
In brief its a tale of nineteenth century intrigue, set in Regency times, stolen inheritances and a plot so thick you could cut it with a knife.
Really gripping good read, but not for reading after a few glassses of wine, there are so many twists you need all your concentration.
