    Hi all,

Booked flights to Munich for a long weekend skiing with the intention of going to Soll, but before I go book accommodation I thought I would throw it out and see is there anywhere better ?

Anyone any experience of Kitzbuhle, Bad Gastein, or know of any gems near by?
We are not too worried about night life - but would like a reasonable size town we could go for a walk around.

Flight arrives in at 19.00 so I would rather it not being a very long drive thanks.

    thanks in advance
    Rob

Are you going AerLingus to Munich or Ryanair to Munich West, ie Memmingen?

We fly into Munich and then travelling to Oberstdorf, haven't been before so cant give you any advice but if you do a search you'll find a thread with lots of info, sounds like a nice place and seems cheap enough.

Soll is definitely not a "reasonable size town", but if you're just there for a weekend is that really that important?
Kitzbuhel is only a little further south than Soll, good skiing, biggish town.

Kitzbuhel is a beautiful town - really scenic in a medieval type way with pedestrian areas - definitely the nicest ski resort town that I've been to. Plenty of choice in terms of restaurants, cafes, shops etc. Even if you're not into nightlife do check out the Londoner pub for a drink or two.

Pretty much all of the Alberg and the Tyrol are within 2 hours.

Mayrhofen, St Anton, Lech Zurs, the whole of the Ski Welt

    Saalbach, Maria Alm, Neiderau

Lermoos and ALpbach are less than and hour as is Garmisch if you wanted to stay in Germany

I Heading to Munich (Ryanair memmingen) at the start of March for a week. Im undecided where to go, any recommendations? Theres three of us who are intermediate Boarders.

We are thinking anton st. Arlberg, but i read a few reviews saying its for experienced. Anyone been here before, what are the slopes like for boarding (I.e. wide or narrow)

Any help would be great, cheers!:)

another option is to stay in munich, and just do day trips.

The german resorts of Lengriess Garmisch and some others are only an hour or so away. (when I stayed in Innsbruck the bus to the slope wasnt much quicker than getting from munich to our local-ish slopes)
To get there you can get various deals on train tickets and sometimes a train + ski pass for not much more than a day pass costs on its own.

    Or.
theres a daily ski bus that brings you to the slopes in Austria for 40 to 50 yoyo return incl day ski pass.

just putting it out there as you can simply rest in Munich on the evening you arrive and leave the travelling till the next day(s) if you wanted.
