Hi, My manual recommends oil - long live service VW 503 00, VW 504 00 and fixed interval service VW 501 00, VW 502 00, VW 503 00, VW 504 00. I have a load of 5W/40 fully synthetic oil. Can I used this? Is 5W/40 same as 504 00? thanks!

Hi,

Nope. The latest guidelines are oil that meet or exceed VW 504/507 standard 5w30 is the grade as far as I know. If it's not on the bottle that it meets these standards I wouldn't bother.
