Apple MBP Afficiondos: What Year Is This Refurb?

Folks, spotted this 17 inch MacBook Pro refurb on the Apple IE domain refurb shop:

    http://store.apple.com/ie/product/FB995B/A?mco=MTEzOTM3NDY

Looking at the picture and the processor, this refurb surely is at latest mid-2007? How can Apple be selling them? I do prefer the older MBP look over the black bevelled thing to be honest, but curious if this really is a 2007 manufactured machine.

It was probably built in 2009, not sure how long more they kept making that model but the unibody didn't launch in the 17' model until after January 2009.
That's also an anti glare model so it might have had a slightly longer production run.

Either way considering the price of the i7, it's a no brainer when your into that kind of money.

Ah thanks for explaining it. Thought the whole MBP line went unibody in 2007. So you think that one is a good deal? I am tempted...

No I think it's a bad dead unless you need that particular screen on it.

Best way to tell what year a MBP is from is to google the graphics card.

Google: MBP NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

Thats the 2008 model. Also that specific model had problems with the graphics card failing after a year or two (depending on usage, the problem was caused by fluctuations in temperatures, so turning the laptop on and off several times a day would increase the likelihood of failure)

Needless to say i'd stay well away from that particular model, or any laptop with a GeForce 8600M.

Why are Apple laptops crazy money. You would get some spec laptop for that money.

Good catch. Already experienced it, but Apple solved the problem for me. Good tip on the card year.
