i have a lightforce lamp that clips on to the lamp of my rifle. The cables have frayed and shorted out where it goes into a rubber at the back of the handle.I cant see how you take the head of the lamp apart in order to replace the cable.. I have done this several time on other lamps with ease, but i dont want to go forcing anything in case i make an arshe of it. any suggestions.. please

is it not the type where you press the 2 red tabs? and then it all just comes out for you?

You'll need to carefully drill out the rivet in the head, you'll find it be removing the reflector housing. I've done a thread on this with photos, hang on and I'll find it for you.

Here it is. The only thing you really need to pay attention to is the drill bit dropping inside the housing then the rivet gives in. It's no major biggie if it does as you'll find out, but less work if it doesn't happen.

It looks like you have to screw off the reflector housing, then drill the rivets out of the bulb holder...

    I dont envy you!

thanks john and glensman. i suspected that i had to drill out the rivet but i dident want to go bulling at anything.
i have been out after a fox for the last 2 week or more and could not get him.
he would give you a few second stare into the lamp and then turn and lope of into the night.i now know his run and time schedule and was lying in wait for him this evening.about 5.30 with the bionos i could see him coming down along the hedge past the horses.he stopped about 40yars out from me, knew he was in the scope, but not sure where the cross hair was and went to switch on the light for his final second of life and all i got was smoke coming out of the cables and i had to frantically start ripping cable of the battery pack.. so close..

Hehehee... Sounds familiar alright. I turned on my lamp a while back, Jesus this dimmer is warm. Mate alerted me to the trail of smoke coming out of it :pac: Back to the car to ditch the battery and work off his lamp, guess what, he spots the fox we'd been after for weeks in those couple of minutes and him with just the shotgun and the fox well out of range :D Them's the breaks!

Thanks lads.. lamp back up and running.fixed it handy enough. the rivet cane out as clean as a whistle and i replaced it with a self tapper by filing the head to to nearly nothing and then recutting the slot. taped up the wire to restrengthen it, so it should last a while. i will keep puting a bit of bait out for him for the next couple of evenings too let him settle down and will lie out for him again wensday evening.going after his relatives in meath tomorrow night
