    FFS,
Just spotted on the news that some people in Dublin are queuing up to get their cars washed, am sure its happening country wide. How stupid are these people, do they not know there are water restrictions in place and washing the car isn't something so important it cant wait for a week or two.

The water restrictions are in place for potable water. Business pay water chargers so if you are paying for it you should expect the service to be provided. I won't be rushing out to wash my car and i always only wash it with a bucket and sponge anyways. But if people wanna pay for a car wash from a company that pays for it's water then let them.

Don't most of those car washes filter the water so as to use as little as possible from the mains, therefore, using less water than you would if you were to do it yourself?

Businesses pay rates, unlike households they are paying directly for that water.
    So let them use it

Not like the council is going to reduce rates!

They made the point on the news that the council were advising car washes that do not recycle their water to cut back on services.
Totally fair in my opinion, whether you pay for it or not.

I wash my car once maybe twice a year, because it's a car not a pet. Just as long as my reg is readable and the performance of my lights/indicators aren't impaired, I'm happy for our plentiful supply of rainfall to do the rest.
